Portis Transfer Main

Scheme: Pressurised Pipeline from Crai WTW to Pant-y-Cadno SRV
This contract involved laying a 250mm ductile iron and 315mm HPPE main from Crai WTW to Pant-Cadno Service Reservoir. The length of the water main was approximately 12,800 metres (8 miles).
The scheme involved laying approximately 8,000 metres in the highway and highway verge along the A4067 and minor road from Crai Village. To meet the Ecological constraints the water courses were directionally drilled using YBCE equipment.
The contract was carried out over a 72 week contract. There was a Drinking Water Inspectorate deadline that the main was required to be commissioned by the end of September 2019. This deadline was successfully met.
YBCE were also awarded a contract to construct a new service reservoir at Pant-y-Cadno the termination point of the new water main.
This contract demonstrates YBCE experience in laying and commissioning high pressure potable water mains.
