Energy scheme was undertaken to utilise the hydro power generated from two number high pressure water mains entering Strata Florida water treatment works, near Tregaron. This hydro scheme will produce 140 kW. The existing water pressure on the incoming 250mm diameter water mains to Strata Florida WTW was approximately 20 bar. Young Bros were awarded the civil engineering project to construct a reinforced concrete powerhouse base and suspended floor slab, divert the existing 2 no. 250mm diameter high pressure water mains, lay a 400mm diameter steel gravity pipe from the new power house, construct a concrete retaining wall, pipe support plinths, access stairs and support plinths for the new hydro units.
